It was obvious from the start that your heart and soul were a huge part of our trip to Querétaro. Beyond sharing the beauty and history of the city, you guided us through a life-changing experience. As I sit here at 6:00 in the morning in my own kitchen, with my own coffee pot, I am lamenting the gracious hospitality of my host mother who served us flower-shaped fruit, quesadillas con nopales, pan and café con leche. Then she would sit with us to review our tarea with the passion of a maestra. She pushed us while holding our hand. Her presence at the Friday ceremony meant a lot to us.
Your personal love of the country and culture was contagious as you joined us on our tours. You modeled preguntas and curiosity that helped all of us deepen our understanding for the beliefs that shaped the significant events of the pais. Javier was hysterical! HIs expertise and ability to compare and contrast global systems worldwide was astounding. Dulce and Jose Luis could not have selected a more qualified guide.
The relationship you have cultivated with Olé was evident from start to finish. The quality of teachers was outstanding. Our classes were intense, well paced, personalized, relevant and extremely rewarding. I cannot believe how much I have learned in two short weeks! The field trip to the market and on the public bus caused us to apply immediately all that we were learning. I couldn't get over the way the school was willing to help us celebrate the 4th of July in such a grand and thoughtful way.
Our personal experience with the artists who custom made jewelry is something I will never forget. Marisol’s warmth and willingness to have us in her home captured the contentment and openness of the people. I loved the cobblestone streets and narrow banquetas alongside the beautiful catedral was something out of a película and the gatherings in the plaza, the music, the protests, the signage, and the obvious intimacy families have for one another.
