Process and Documents for Entry into Mexico
Keep your pen handy! Toward the end of your flight, you will be given two documents to complete: a Mexico Visitor's Permit and a Customs Declaration. When we arrive at the terminal in Querétaro, we will deplane and enter Customs. You will be in line and move toward the Customs agent. When it is your turn, you will approach the desk and hand him/her your passport and Mexico Visitor's Permit. He will stamp your passport, tear off your section of your Visitor's Permit and hand them both back to you. Keep that Visitor's Permit with your passport. You'll need it when you depart Mexico - or pay a fine. The agent will ask you how long you will be staying. Give him the DATE OF YOUR DEPARTURE.
You'll move past the Customs agent to pick up your luggage and then get in line for Customs and baggage inspection. The agent will greet you and take your Customs document, then ask you to press a button. That button will light up either a green light or a red light. If the light is green, you proceed directly to the x-ray machine, put your baggage on the belt, collect it and the go through the glass doors out into the lobby. If the light is red, you put your baggage on the belt of the x-ray machine, pick it up after it passes through x-ray and proceed to a table for inspection. The agents do a quick and easy bag inspection, then direct you to the glass doors for exit.
You will exit into a lobby where you'll find lots of people holding signs with the names of arriving tourists, or taxi drivers offering a ride. Walk past them and toward the bathroom straight ahead to find our friends from Ole Center for Language. That's our gathering spot.
This Customs Declaration below is usually distributed on the plane for you to complete prior to deplaning. If it isn't, it will be handed to you as you exit the plane. Fill it out as you wait in line.
